Tuesday Tutorial ~ Gum wrapper rose

Our tutorial for today it the gum wrapper rose that I made and talked about in the post about headbands.

As for supplies.... obviously you start with a pack of gum. Well, actually it will take about two. You will also need a hot glue gun.

Chew the gum and save the wrappers. This is the fun part :) (Wait, it is all fun!)

Fold  it in half along the dotted line bringing the corners together.

It will look like this.

Again, fold along the black line.

Here is what it should look like. You are basically folding the foil side in half.

Again fold along the black line.

Here is what it should be looking like now.

And once more fold along the black line.

As you can see it is starting to look a bit like a kite.

Fold in the other side along the black line.

And there is the petal.

Fold all of your wrappers up the same. You will need 25.

Take nine of the petals and get them all wedged together.

Here is where you need the hot glue gun.

Place a drop of hot glue in the center of the petals.

Allow it to cool slightly (so you don't burn yourself) and then press it down to flatten it.

Flip it all over.

Now reinforce the back with more hot glue.

Now take 7 petals and trim the tips off.

Glue these ones together.

The edges will overlap.

Now take five of the petals and trim the tips on these just a bit more then last time.

Glue them together, again they will overlap.

Now glue the 7 petal to the 9 petal.

And glue the 5 petal to the 7 petal.

Crumple the flower up into a ball like a flower bud.

Now peel it open like a flower blooming.

Work with the petals as you pull them apart arranging them together.

Now take three of the remaining petals and again trim them even more.

Shape/wrinkle these a bit.

These will be glued together.

Glued together.

Take the final petal and trim it.

Roll it so that is cones and then crumple slightly.

Trim off the tip.

Glue the three petals into the center.

Glue the final petal into the center.

And there you have a gum wrapper rose! I sprayed mine with a shellac.

Hope that all made sense, if not feel free to ask questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability. :)

Toodles.
